Agencies campaign against child abuse

Shelby County District Attorney Robby Owens will be featured speaker Friday at a ceremony kicking off a monthlong campaign against child abuse.

The 10 a.m. program will be at Owens House, or the Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center, 22747 Shelby County 25, Columbiana.  Owens founded the center in 1993.

At the 10 a.m. program, representatives from Family Connection, SafeHouse of Shelby County, and Shelby Emergency Assistance will announce their organizations will join Owens House during April to raise awareness of their programs to stop abuse.

The four agencies offer different services to families and individuals dealing with problems such as child abuse, substance abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence and homelessness.
